Elevator Confessions

Damn, Damn, Damn.

Dana thought angrily as she ran down the empty hall.

It was around 2 in the morning.

She must have been the only one left in the entire building.

She smacked the elevator button.

Dana looked down at her brief case, she was sure she had all her

Paperwork.

She sighed gratefully, her breath pushing up her bangs.

She laughed softly.

The door opened, she entered and pressed the button for the 1st floor.

She hated being on the 7th floor. She hated it!

She heard a throat clear, and then she noticed a man in the elevator

with her.

He a smiled at her, it was a rather goofy smile.

A smile that made you want to smile back.

She smiled back; it wasn’t a real smile, all

she was doing was just being polite.

He was tall; he wore suit pants and a blue dress shirt.

His sleeves were rolled up.

His tie was something that made Dana want to laugh.

He had on large glasses, and his hair was combed back.

An arrogant lock fell in front of his brow.

He stuck out his hand quickly, "Uh, Hi."

He pushed back up his glasses.

Dana raised an eyebrow, she laughed humorlessly.

"Hi…" she shook his hand slowly.

"Fox Mulder." He smiled widely at her.

Dana froze.

Fox Mulder? ‘Spooky’ Fox Mulder?

She couldn’t believe this. She hadn’t been in the FBI that long but,

God she never wanted to meet him.

He was supposed to be insane.

He was said to have gotten off killing

His sister and as a result he went into denial and so he thinks it

was aliens.

Dana turned away from him.

"Working late?" he asked.

Dana rolled her eyes; she smiled a fake smile again, "Yup."

He laughed, "TGIF, right?"

Dana fake-smiled again, "Yeah…"

Fox sighed sadly and shrunk into the corner of the elevator again.

Dana instantly felt terrible.

Oh well. She thought and waited for the doors to open.

They stood around the 5th floor, the lights flickered and the car

shook and trembled.

Dana fell, then she felt the Fox’s arms around her holding her up.

He looked down at her, "You okay?" he asked kindly.

Dana ripped herself away from him. She brushed herself off.

"I’m fine." she said impatiently.

They both looked up.

The lights didn’t turn back on, and the car seemed frozen.

Dana grabbed the phone, "Hello? Hello?"

The phone went to the front desk. A security guard should be there!

"Hello? HELLO?" Dana yelled into the phone, she pushed her long hair

behind her ear, frustrated.

Fox laughed softly, "Barney, won’t be there."

She turned, "What?"

Fox licked his lips, "Barney, the guard, isn’t there. He thinks I’m

The only one here, he probably left to do something."

He said this slowly, as if talking to a child.

Dana slammed down the phone and glared at him.

"Fine." She spit.

Fox sat and crossed his legs. He was situated in the corner.

He pulled out some work and began to write.

She stood astonished, "Your not going to do anything?"

Fox looked up at her, "Barney should be back around,"

He looked at his watch, "4:30." He finished.

Dana’s eyes widened, "In 2 hours!"

Fox shrugged, "Yup."

Dana couldn’t believe it. She was stuck in an elevator with that

freak, ‘Spooky’ Mulder.

Dana moaned softly.

Fox laughed suggestively,

"I usually have to work to get a woman to make that

Sound."

Dana looked horrified at him.

Her anger boiled when she saw he hadn’t even looked up.

She walked back and forth in the elevator.

She looked at her watch, 2:22.

It had only been 4 minutes.

She collapsed onto the floor. She sighed irritably.

Fox threw his papers into his briefcase.

He smiled at her, "I was never one for work."

Dana looked at the ground, silently.

They sat in silence.

"Why are you working so late?"

Dana jumped, she looked at Fox, "Ah…I wanted to finish some work for

Tomorrow."

He nodded, "Oh, What about your family?

Your husband?"

"Not married."

"Boyfriend?"

Dana sighed, "Nope."

Fox nodded a few more times, "Oh…"

Dana bit her lip. Her mother’s words from childhood came back to her.

Always be polite, Dana.

Dana took a deep breath. "Why are you here?"

Fox shrugged, "I’m always here until 1 or 2."

Dana’s eyes widened, "Really?"

Fox nodded, "Yup, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week."

"7 days a week? Really?"

Fox nodded, "Yeah."

"What about your family?"

Fox laughed, "Me? I don’t have a family.

My father hates me. My mother committed suicide a few years ago.

And…and it is just me."

He didn’t mention his sister…interesting.

Dana raised her eyebrow, "You don’t have a girlfriend?"

Fox shook his head.

Dana looked at the floor, "I’m sorry about your mother."

He shook his head, "No need to worry yourself.

She is probably very happy now."

Dana couldn’t help but give praise to the man in her head.

He didn’t sorrow forever for his mother, but only hoped she was

Happy.

"So…ya’ you haven’t worked here long, huh?"

Dana shook her head, slightly annoyed. "Nope." She said

Irritably.

"Oh, your about 20? 22? So you must have been here for a year?"

Dana nodded, still annoyed.

God, Leave me alone!

"22."

He smiled, "Yeah. I remember being new too. I started when I was…

God, I must have been 25. It’s been eight years."

33? Huh.

Dana grabbed the phone again. "Hello? Mister? Hello?"

She slammed it down again.

She looked angrily at Fox, "Why isn’t he there?"

"I’m the only one here this late. He usually leaves to go do

something."

Dana glared, "Do something?"

Fox shrugged, "Yeah ya’ know dry cleaning, grocery shopping…"

She was speechless, "He…he just leaves? An you know about it?"

Fox smiled tightly and nodded.

"And you didn’t report him?"

Fox’s eyes widened, he began to laugh. "Of course not!

Barney is a good man.

He has a great wife and two beautiful children. He doesn’t get paid

as much as we do. What he gets for salary is very tiny."

Dana shrugged, "So? He should still do his job!

Earn the money he gets."

Fox pursed his lips, but remained quiet.

There was no point in arguing.

Dana looked at him her eyebrows furrowed together.

"If you don’t report him, I will."

"Just…leave him alone, okay?" he said quietly.

Dana and Fox stared at each other for a while.

Dana finally broke eye contact, her cheeks filled with shame.

She began to play with her skirt-hem.

She looked at Fox again; he was gazing at her legs.

Her legs were stretched out in front of her, crossed.

As she saw were Fox was looking, she bent her legs closer to her.

Fox quickly caught eyes with her and then looked away.

He cleared his throat, embarrassed.

"So…so your, you’re a pathologist?"

She cleared her throat as well, "Hmm, yes, yes I am."

"You slice and dice dead people, interesting. What’s that like?"

Dana gave a tight lip smile, "Ya’ know, fine."

They sat. Dana looked at her watch.

"3:23." She mumbled.

They sat for a while longer.

Fox tried to get Dana to respond with more then 1 word

Sentences. But to no prevail.

He would say something light and kind, and she would reply with an

‘Yeah’ or a ‘Nope, not really’.

Fox sighed after a while. There was no point.

He looked at his watch again, 3:48.

"Barney should be back soon." He said.

Dana nodded, but didn’t look at him.

He smiled at the woman again.

She was very beautiful, very beautiful actually.

Her long red hair and short bangs, looked amazing framing

her porcelain skin.

Her chubby cheeks and nose had a light speckling of freckles.

It was so pretty.

The cheeks had given away to her young age.

Other then that, and her small size, nobody would have guessed she

Was green.

And her eyes! The biggest, bluest ones he had ever seen.

Her rosebud lips, looked so soft.

I bet it would look better if she smiled.

Dana looked at him finally; she raised her eyebrow.

"Yeah?" she said impatiently.

Something hit him. He smiled.

"You haven’t told me your name, Miss."

Dana looked at him, "Ah…well, I’m, Da…Agent Scully."

Dana saw something in Fox’s face; it looked like anger but before she

Could register it, it was gone.

"AGENT Scully. Interesting…"

He began to whisper to himself, "Agent…what a big fucking surprise."

She stared at him, "What is that supposed to mean?"

He looked up at her; He shook his head in disgust.

He snarled, "You just like all the rest."

Dana just stared at him. "Excuse me?"

Fox shook his head, "Your afraid of me. You all are.

You think I did it. Didn’t you?"

Dana looked shamefully at the ground.

He laughed humorlessly; it was more of an angry laugh.

He slid across the floor, his face right in front of her’s.

He whispered, "Do you know what that’s like? Huh? Do you?

Everyone thinks you murdered your little sister.

People have said that I raped her too.

That’s a nice way to meet women!

‘Hi, I’m Fox Mulder.’

‘Oh, yeah the one who raped and killed his sister!

The crazy one!" he finished, yelling.

Dana could feel his breath on her face.

"I…I’m sorry."

He laughed softly, gravely. "No, no your not." He grabbed her chin

in his hand. "You just want me out

Of your pretty…little…face."

Their breath mixed together, Dana’s watery eyes looked at his

Lips.

She tried to blink away her tears.

She leaned in hesitantly. Dana closed her eyes and touched his

lips with hers.

Fox responded, his lips tugging at hers..

She grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer.

They broke apart.

Their breathing heavy, their eyes stayed connected.

"You’re very pretty when flushed…" Fox said quietly.

Dana raised a hand to her cheek, touching the warmth there.

He smiled.

She couldn’t help but peak at her watch.

4:21

Dana reached over for the phone.

"Hello?" she said breathy.

"Hello?" a man’s voice replied, slightly confused.

"Yes, Mmm." Dana hummed as Fox’s began to kiss her hand playfully.

She laughed slightly and pushed Fox away,

Fox smiled and grabbed the phone. He placed it back on the hook.

Dana stared wide-eyed.

"I really like you Dana."

Dana froze, "You knew my name already?"

Fox smiled and laughed softly, "Yeah. Yeah, I do. I’ve known about

you for sometime."

Dana shook her head. "How?"

"About four years ago, you solved my riddle. I was so amazed.

I couldn’t stand it. You were so smart. Man, I figured out

everything about you. It was an…legal obsession."

He smiled.

Dana’s mouth dropped open.

Fox took his chance and began to kiss her gently.

She pushed him back slightly.

"The riddle? The one I solved in Quantico?"

Fox smiled, "Yup, that one. When I taught there once, I asked it…and

No one ever solved it. Except you, of course."

Fox began to kiss her cheeks, then her lips lightly.

Dana grabbed the lapels of his shirt pulling him closer.

The phone next to the kissing couple began to ring.

Fox grabbed it annoyed, "Yeah?"

"Agent Mulder?" Barney’s kind voice asked.

"Oh, hey Barn…" he looked at Dana. "Listen I’m stuck in the elevator,

can you call for some help?"

"Jeez, Fox! No problem!"

Before he hung up, Fox replied, "Wait Barn, call in about…" Fox

Looked at Dana and thought. He smiled, "5 minutes. ‘Kay, Bye."

Fox hung up the phone and returned to Dana.

Two men walked in,

"Hey," one man asked as he snapped his gum, " You call for help?"

His nametag said, ‘Earl’ and the other one said, ‘Rob’.

Barney looked up quickly, "Yeah! The elevator is out. A person is

Trapped inside."

"Alright, alright." Earl said. "We got it."

Both men headed over to the elevator.

They began to play with the buttons and wires.

All of a sudden the elevator panel began to light up.

Barney heard the whirling of the elevator as it began to move.

The number lights lit up.

DING.

The elevator door opened.

A small woman walked out, flushed, eyes wide, hair tousled.

She straightened her shirt, tried to pet down her hair and walked out

with a slight authority.

The man behind her grabbed his and followed her out.

Dana walked to her car.

Fox on her heels.

She tried to get the keys into the door, she felt Fox against her

back.

She turned, "Uh, hi."

Fox smiled, "Do we have to do this all over again?"

Dana laughed and looked down to her feet.

Fox moved in closer, "So, you, ah…you want to meet somewhere

Tomorrow?"

Dana looked up at him, "I…" she smiled, "Can we meet at

Shay’s?"

"The diner?"

She nodded, "Yeah…"

Fox raised an eyebrow at her, "Around 7 p.m.?"

She smiled, "Yeah."

Two years later…

"Do you, Gregory Marcus Armstrong, take this woman,

Dana Katherine Scully, to be your

lawfully wedded wife? In sickness and in health, as long as you both

shall live?"

Greg smiled, "I do."

"And do you, Dana Katherine Scully, take this man,

Gregory Marcus Armstrong, to be your

lawfully wedded husband?

In sickness and in health, as long as you both

shall live?"

Dana stared at the man before her.

His short brown hair, his strong jaw.

God, I miss him.

Dana froze, her eyes widened, she turned to Greg.

"No…"

She heard everyone gasp.

Greg laughed, "Humm…What?"

"No."

She dropped her bouquet.

She began to walk down the aisle.

Dana reached the back.

Fox stood.

Dana ran into his arms. "I sorry we broke up."

She whispered. "I love you."

Fox kissed the top of her head. Everyone one was staring at them.

Diana Fowley stood, "Fox!? If you forget, you’re dating me?"

Fox looked at her, "Diana, you know I love her. You always knew…"

Diana’s mouth dropped slightly.

Dana looked at him "You love me?"

He smiled, "I always did."

Dana smiled back.

She turned, "I’m sorry Greg. I’m sorry."

Greg glared at Fox and left the aisle angrily.

Fox grabbed Dana’s hand. He pulled her up the aisle.

They stood in front of the priest.

"I’m ready, Father." Dana smiled.

He looked at Fox, "Your name?"

Fox smiled, "Fox William Mulder."

"Okay. "Do you, Fox William Mulder, take this woman,

Dana Katherine Scully, to be your

lawfully wedded wife? In sickness and in health, as long as you both

shall live?"

"I do." He smiled.

"And do you, Dana Katherine Scully, take this man,

Fox William Mulder, to be your

lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health, as long as you both

shall live?"

She smiled, "I do."

The priest smiled, "Then by the power invested in me by the state of

Virginia, I know pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Fox gently kissed Dana’s rosebud lips.

It was hesitated, but the applause soon began.

Melissa, Dana’s sister, stood up her smile the widest and her

Claps the loudest.

Fox broke from Dana. "Why did we ever break up, huh?

I can’t even remember."

She smiled, "You wouldn’t do the dishes."

Fox smiled, "That’s right…I’ll promise to do them for now on."

Dana laughed and hugged him close.

"I love you. I always, always did, Baby-Doll."

She sniffed, "I love you too."

He grabbed her hand, and they began down the aisle.

They were ready to start their new life together.

The End.
